Hi there,
Why bother with other search
engines when
is here with all the sites and infomation direct out of our
town, Gütersloh ?
We have come to the conclusion, that people are forever
roaming around the sites of the world, looking for that special site but,
unfortunately never quite find it. What would you do, for example, if you
are looking to meet some new friends, with whom you can chat to, and even
meet ? What use is chatting to someone from Wien or San Marino if
you cant meet them too?. Well, now using the
-Engine
you can search through the Home pages and Contacts pages and you can chat
to people from Gütersloh. You never know, you may even find
someone from just around the corner to you . Or you can simply drop
in and look to see what events are being held in the local area ! There
is even the opportunity to look at some local firms to see just what we
get up to here.
This is why we built the
Search Engine to help you find what you are looking for.

in
3 How can I put my site onto the
-Search
Engine ?
4. This is the quickest way out of this help and into the Search Engine !
All you need to do is to type in your word or phrase that you are looking for into the search box. Upon pressing return, all relevant links in your search will now be listed to you. All lines that look like this: LINK are the links to the relevant information that you are looking for and by clicking it you will be taken to that site.. Listed below are a few more functions available.
| Option | Function | Example |
| Search for more
words: |
simply type in the words you are looking for | gtl house garden |
| Phrase search | If you wish to look for a phrase which contains more than 1 word, then you must use the quotation marks to contain the words you are looking for. These function then only allows exact search results to be viewed, with the desired phrase in the text. | "Gütersloh Business" |
| Word exclusion. | You may carry out a search specifically requesting NOT to include certain words by placing a minus sign on the word:(the example shows a search that would look for all sites on cars less those about BMW's) | cars -BMW |
| Words in the Description area. | You can search for words that are in the Description area but are nowhere else to be seen. You may also combine this funtion with URL:(Internetlink), NAME: and a PLACE search can be carried out. | Description:help |
If you are not too sure exactly what you are looking for, then you can use the Sub Directories to help refine your search It is here that you will find the Sub Directories with their respective explanations e.g...
Other, Home pages, Information and News
Diverse other Links , Links to User Home pages , Info's and News not just from Gütersloh
As you can see there is a description next to each Sub Directory of the type of information you can expect to find at the sites in the particular Sub Directory. It is possible that a site or sites may be duplicated in more than one Sub Directory. This is due to the fact that many of the sites in our Search Engine are topics that meet the different search requirements.
Once you have picked a Sub Directory, you will be shown
a list of all the sites in that Sub Directory in short form.. If you still
don't know quite what you are looking for then you can click the
button and do a word search too.
Do you have a site that you would like to place in this Sub Directory ? No problem!
![]() |
Firstly, choose the Sub Directory into which your link is to be placed. Then click this button, which can be found on the top right of the screen in the Sub Directory page. |
| The Sections: |
|
| Link: | This is where you enter the name of the link. This is what you will see when you pick the URL, described below. |
| URL: | This is where you enter the Link. The safest method is
if you write down the complete address. This is how to do it:
2. Call up the site you wish to place into the Search Engine data banks. 3. In the address location you will see the address: http://... mark this with the mouse by clicking on it and dragging the mouse along the length of the text, and press Ctrl Strg and then c 4. Now go back to the URL section and click the entry box. Now in this box you must press Ctrl and then the v. Now you should see the address that you have just copied in the entry section. If this is unsuccessful try the procedure again. If it still refuses to copy your link across then simply type in the address manually |
| Description: | In these three lines you can enter a description, which will help in finding your site accurately. Warning, You may only put a maximum of 40 characters on each line. Think carefully what you wish to write here. The more accurate your description is, the easier it will be for other people to find your site. |
| Keywords: | The words entered here are used simply to increase the hit rate onto your site. They will not actually be visible on your site. Beware that you do not separate your words with a comma. It is enough to separate words simply with a space e.g.... car tires engine ect. The more keywords you have, then the more often your site will be found. Words entered in previous areas need not be written i.e. (Link, Description...) as these words are automatically searched anyway. |
| From: To: | This section is a Date section, and should be used for date entries i.e.. if you are holding a concert on specific dates. Beware the format that you use: e.g.. 12.01.1997 Ort: This is the place that concerns the link in question. If you do not know the place then simply put in your own home town. |
| Name: | This area is for our use only so that we can see who created the link |
| Email: | Please put your E-Mail address here so that we may contact you in case we have any questions. |
| Site Representative: | Only click this if you are the Web Master of the link in question or if you created that web site. |
Some of the words you will see on the Search Engine site will be in German, this is due to the fact that this site is co-produced by our site partners who also designed www.GTL.de. This Search Engine has been translated by us for you, the English speaking community.
